High School High

My school wasn't actually the place to be at because of numerous reasons. The teachers didn't want to teach, the staff members were always on our backs about dumb things, we all came from different communities, and all the students had their own social groups but not by race. Most of the students came from the Bay Area Oakland, San Francisco, Richmond, Vallejo, and Pittsburg. The schools name is Deer Valley aka DV. The school actually didn't look so bad from the outside, but when you walk inside those gates and enter those class rooms it was a whole different book. I do believe that the reasons why some of us didn't want to go to school were because we didn't think that some of the subjects were useful to us such as Science and History. I only went here for two years but it was because of me and others why I couldn't continue going there.
I graduated at Heritage High which was close to DV, but the area was basically the same just with less drama. Don't get me wrong I met a lot of good people there that I still keep in contact with, and also still hang out with them. I also still see some of my old teachers and say to myself “They really tried to teach us all those years ago and now they have worse students.” We can’t change the way the staff and teachers think about us, however we can help them change their attitudes and thoughts about us by acting appropriately to them. Not all of us may agree with what they teach us and how they teach us, but they still have to be there just like we do. If you want to do your thug and gangsta thing then do it, but leave it at the door when you come to school.

  1. I understand where you are coming from as far as the teachers go. Like their seems to always be about three out of five that are just terrible. Teachers assume that just because they have a degree in a certain subject it means that they know everything or that they can dictate what we do or how we feel about something. And for me it was clear my first year in high school that most of the teachers were only showing up because they looked at us like we were dollar signs, not as developing minds.
